► Road to 50k click HERE https://goo.gl/Wpqnbs Welcome to Skating Made Easy a video series. This video series is structured to help new skaters teach themselves how to skate. This series will be equally helpful to experienced skaters who want to sharpen up their own skills or want to be able to teach others how to skate. The first step to learning how to skate is to acquire the proper equipment for you to learn on. You need skates, pads and a helmet. Falling is a skill. The best inline skaters are masters at saving themselves when something goes wrong. Pads allow you to fall safely and will help you learn faster. Knowing how to fall is a confidence boost. Not to mention pads will help save you from injuries that will slow you progress. Here is what I look for in a good set of pads. Shaped cap on knee pads and a thick velcro strap. Wrist guards. Plastic on the palm of your hand. Not on the back. Helmet. Your helmet needs to have proper back of the head protection. Ski helmets, hockey helmets or skate helmets. Bike helmets might work but generally a bike helmet does not have full back of the head protection. There are 3 necessities in a skate for a new skater. 1) Supportive boot 2) Appropriate wheel size 3) Urethane wheel My number one choice for a new skater is a Seba FRX. The FRX is cost effective. The boot is very supportive, the liner is comfortable and the standard wheel size is 80 or 84mm. This skate will make it easier for you to learn and as you get better the skate is suitable for even an expert skater. When buying skates off of Kijiji or Craigslist look for a plastic boot and wheel that is 84mm or less. Be aware that it will be difficult to replace some parts of skates that you might buy off of Kijiji. Shaun
