Japan Travel December 2025: Journey Across Kyushu and Yakushima — Episode 6 Welcome back to the Japan Travel December 2025: Journey Across Kyushu and Yakushima series! Episode 5 concluded with my arrival by ferry at Miyanoura Port on Yakushima Island. After boarding early in the morning and facing a slight delay, the four-and-a-half-hour journey left me absolutely starving. So, Episode 6 kicks off with a much-needed meal: delicious fried chicken and fried shrimp at a local restaurant we visited right after landing. From there, I drive to an Airbnb perched on the sheer cliffs of southern Yakushima. I’ll give you a full Room Tour of this incredible spot. It was not only comfortable but offered extraordinarily beautiful, almost otherworldly scenery. Although it rained on my arrival day, the next morning dawned clear and sunny. Taking advantage of the weather, I headed straight for Yakusugi Land, the island's most famous hiking course for seeing the ancient Yakusugi cedars. Even the drive to the trail offers stunning natural beauty—along the way, I’ll share the sounds of chirping birds and we might even spot some Yaku-deer! This vlog is packed with useful tips for hiking on Yakushima and plenty of helpful information about the island.
