Women on Stage International Women's Day Conference 2025 - Build & Grow About the speaker: https://www.womenonstage.net/speakers... In 2017, a former colleague published the book "The Fuzzy and the Techie: Why the Liberal Arts Will Rule the Digital World." In reading it, a lightbulb went on that helped me understand how I, a History student with graduate work in Education, had found my passion and my purpose in tech in Developer Relations. Building for builders not only required technical depth and expertise, but also curiosity, flexibility, communication skills, and the ability to connect disparate dots to tell compelling stories -- knowledge and experience gained through a liberal arts background. In this session, I'll share my journey from History student to educator to ad tech customer sales and eventually to Developer Relations, where I found that my combination of education and professional endeavors perfectly set me up to play a critical role in building and executing impactful developer programs. For attendees, I aspire for you to see the value of "fuzzy" expertise -- collaboration, communication, and storytelling -- in building highly successful technical programs, whether it's you bringing such skills to the table, or how to most effectively incorporate such expertise into your organizations.
