After finishing the fantastic final episode of Reborn from a fresh file, I decided it was time to do a second take of my Mono Poison run. There was nothing wrong with the original, but this game has changed so much. This is clearly evident in the drastic change to the third Tangrowth. Ace manages to be even harder than fighting an Espeon this early by having powerful Pokemon almost all of which packing Psychic moves. Braixen is extremely difficult to deal with; even in rain my Stunky does not beat it. Roselia Extrasensory also hits extremely hard. But of course, the main threat is the Tangrowth. It boosts a lot of its stats very quickly and after a single Growth, OHKOs everything except Stunky with STORED POWER. And of course, it had to have a Pecha Berry. Lead Arbok can deal with a few mons, and Haunter can pick up the slack, but even 5v1 Tangrowth threatens to sweep. Despite all this, I got away surprisingly clean, not even having to stall Toxic with Clear Smogs. Ace consistently put up some of the toughest fights out of Team Meteor in my original run. I wouldn't be surprised if this isn't the last of the issues they cause me. You might have picked up on a few notable differences between this run and the first. Importantly: the pool of Pokemon available to me is slightly different. Gastly is now in the Mystery Egg and Seviper is available as an event. But more importantly, I will be playing this run on Set mode. This keeps things fresh and even fights I previously figured out will be a significant challenge.
