In keeping with my 'no access to good broadband short video' format, here's a quick close-up fly over of Garry's new Harley Benton SC450 Les Paul copy, fresh in from Thomann. The overall quality of these guitars is good and the quality of the set up seems to be getting better all the time. It's a lot of guitar for the money anyway and this one has a pretty good set of frets allowing a low action without any fret buzzing problems. Levelling on this guitar is only required to free up some big bends at the kind of very low action I aim for. Some small issues that could be improved on: this shipped with a loose jack socket; not a major problem for the more experienced but a bit of a downer and likely source of imminent disappointment for a beginner. The nut, despite being carefully fitted and hand-finished gave varying 1st fret action heights. And it wouldn't be a huge added cost in the factory to paint the cavities and connect them up for shielding since the pickups are equipped with coil split switches and will be running in single coil mode at some point. A very playable first guitar that will be tweaked to perfection.
