Today on our 2009 Ford Escape, we're going to be taking a look at the Draw-Tite two package wiring harness. This is part number 118251. As you can see, a really basic kit here. We're going to have a plug. This is going to go right into the factory plug under the rear of our Escape. That's going to give us the signal we need to power a trailer or maybe a cargo carrier or something along those lines. Now, we're here at the back driver's side corner of the Escape, and you're going to see our plug right here. If this does not exist on your vehicle, you don't have a tow package. If you do have this, you do. What we're going to do is just press down this tab on the outside. Then we're going to wiggle it to get it separated here. Going to wiggle and pull at the same time. There you see that connector's going to come out. Might be a little dust in there. It's a good idea to get any of that out. We're going to use a little bit of dielectric grease or a little bit of contact grease here. Just going to put it in there. If you don't have this a home, it's part number 11755. It just helps to keep moisture, dirt, debris, and things like that out. We'll bring our new wiring harness. It's just as easy as plugging it in. From this point, it's up to you how you want to run your wires. Of course, we want to get it over by our hitch. On the backside of the bumper here, there's actually going to be two braces. I think those would be a perfect spot to run our wiring in and behind. That gives us some good support and keep it up out of the way. Now, I'm going to use a couple of zip ties. These are a little longer than what come in our kit, and I want to go around this brace. Just to get my wire nice and secure. Now to trim off those tag ends, so they're not hanging out. Depending on our trailer connector, you'll see we've got a good length here. This will allow us to come out and make a connection, but you can also tuck some of this up and away, zip tie it off, and trim it to length, or have it stored to length. However far you need it. In our case, we're just going to around the end, because I really don't know how far the customer needs it or how far their trailer is, or their connector is from the back of the car. Just store it like that for now, and if we need to, we can zip tie a little bit up and out of the way. To test out our wiring, we're going to plug in just a simple 4 pole tester here. This is part number I26. We'll start by turning on our headlights, and our left blinker, our right blinker, and our brakes. With everything working as it should, that's going to complete our installation of the Draw-Tite tow package wiring harness with 4 pole flat trailer connector.
