Totaram is a very poor vegetable seller but a man of integrity. He and his wife are childless and his wife Mayuri literally dotes on her lazy and untrustworthy brother Bhoju. Both of them are greedy for money and emotionally blackmail Totaram to abide by the advice of a fraud and manipulative babaji, Bakshi baba. He falls in the trap to amass wealth by being a fake astrologer....this leads to serious trouble but ultimately by sheer dint of luck, he comes out of a life threatening situation...this is the gist of the story.
