Modern Era: • In 2013, SJU became the first major U.S. airport to be privatized under a public-private partnership. The operator, Aerostar Airport Holdings, took over management and modernization efforts. • Since then, the airport has undergone renovations and upgrades, improving terminals and passenger experience.
