Cross Ramming Reforming

Cross-ramming (reforming) is a method of creating internal space following intrusion into the passenger compartment of a vehicle (e.g. vehicle side impact with a tree). Using a hydraulic ram to reform the vehicle shape can also provide a method of freeing a mechanical entrapment. With all interior plastic trim removed: Identify the construction that requires relocating. Within the construction, identify an area of strength which will act as a ramming point. Identify a solid base for the ram to be positioned. Once in position, extent ram and ensure ram head contacts the area of strength previously identified. Extend ram slowly, ensuring vehicle construction is moving as required.
