DIY: Ford Maverick XL - OEM Power Tailgate Lock Install!

My 2023 Ford Maverick XL didn't come with a power tailgate lock. Fortunately Ford still ran the wiring to the pigtail under the bed next to the bumper and it is easy to wire in. All you need to do to have a power tailgate lock is get an OEM lock actuator, Part# JB3Z-9943170-A. This is the same tail gate lock as the 2019+ Ford Ranger and costs between $85 - $110. If you buy a new one instead of used from a salvage yard it will not have the connector and you will need to get your own. It is a common pigtail connector found in many different Ford parts, from airbags to washer fluid sensors, so a trip to the salvage yard might get you what you need. The new harness for power tailgate lock is part# NZ6Z-14A412-B or NZ6Z-14A412-C. The price on all of these parts was less than half in 2022. I'm sure they will keep going up in price.
