Nobody know everything but everybody knows something! Together, we can help answer important scientific research questions that affect humans, animals, the planet and even the universe. People from all walks of life share observations, log data, analyze data, and more to build knowledge on topics they are curious or concerned about. In many cases, scientists use this data to accelerate research and discovery. Scientists post instructions or "protocols" so volunteers know how to upload data (when there's not enough data) or analyze data (where there's too much data for a small team of scientists to sort through). Thousands of these projects are organized on SciStarter.org, a free site that connects millions of people to thousands of citizen science projects. Use the SciStarter Project Finder to find an event or project that matches your interests, locations, availability and more. Follow the instructions to upload or analyze data. Most projects can be done from anywhere but some take place in specific locations or at particular times. Most do not require specialized instruments. You'll learn a lot in the process too! From Astronomy to Zoology, there's something for everyone! Many people get started by completing a fun, interactive tutorial at https://SciStarter.org/training . Happy experimenting!
