Line 9 Serie 5500 trip from Sainz de Baranda to Plaza de Castilla @ Metro de Madrid, Spain

[ENGLISH] In this video we will be traveling from Sainz de Baranda to Plaza de Castilla in a Serie 5500 train (or Serie 5000 4ª). These are the last "galibo ancho" trains not to feature open gangway design and are quite old. The other subseries of the 5000 line up were or taken out of service and trashed (due to them containing asbestos, or sold to Buenos Aires. Quite a shame these trains are not in service anymore, as they could serve as reinforcement trains (L9, L6) during peak hours... L9 travells from Paco de Lucía in the North to Arganda del Rey in the SouthEast. Today´s journey uses the extension that took place on the 30th December 1983, from Plaza de Castilla to Avenida de América. The other part (from Avenida de América to Sainz de Baranda) was opened on the 24th of February 1986, joining up both Lines 9A and 9B (not the same lines as nowadays), making up L9 in its totality. ============== [ESPAÑOL] En este vídeo, viajaremos en L9 desde Sainz de Baranda hasta Plaza de Castilla en un tren de la Serie 5500 (or Serie 5000 4ª). Estos son los últimos trenes de galibo ancho que no tienen el diseño de "Tren Boa" con pasillo intercomunicador entre coches; y son bastante viejos. Las otras subseries de la línea de 5000 han sido o puestos fuera de circulación y desmantelados, o vendidos al Subte de Buenos Aires. Una pena que estos trenes no puedan dar servicio, ya que podrían ser bastante útiles al reforzar líneas (9 y 6) en horas punta. La L9 discurre entre Paco de Lucía en el norte y Arganda del Rey en el sureste de Madrid. El viaje de hoy, usa la extensión que tuvo lugar el 30 de diciembre de 1983 entre Plaza de Castilla y Avenida de América. El otro tramo (entre Avenida de América y Sainz de Baranda), fue inaugurado el 24 de febrero de 1986, uniendo la L9A con la L9B (no denominaciones actuales), formando como tal la L9.
