The Taubergießen nature reserve is located in the Upper Rhine plain between the Vosges and the Black Forest. It is a rare phenomenon in densely populated Germany. When you are there, you feel like in a dream of paradise. Crystal clear water, absolute silence, you only hear the countless birds and the gentle rippling of water that your boat creates. The nature reserve with its forests, meadows and dams serves as a habitat for numerous animal species, some of which are threatened with extinction. It is assumed that well over 200 bird species occur in the protected area; over 50 of these are endangered species. They still exist: wild cat, kingfisher, oriole, gray heron and cormorant, common frog and yellow-bellied toad, grass snake and the banded demoiselle (the blue dragonfly in the video cover). Arms of the old Rhine with crystal-clear streams fed by springs. Mighty trees with garlands of liana. Old wooden fishing boats, under willow galleries. Beautiful alluvial forests with large orchid meadows. A real jungle... not in far away Amazonia, but on the Upper Rhine in southwest Germany. Memories of long-lost vast forests and landscapes that were once found all along the Rhine. This video has been shot in June 2022.
