Struga: Improving the flood early warning system in the Drin River Basin

Building an effective warning system for potential flood risks is key to dealing with such natural disasters. In recent years climate change in the Balkans has increased the risk and calls for cross-border cooperation. German International Cooperation (GIZ), since 2012 is supporting adaptation and flood risk management in the Western Balkans region. The project focuses on the Drin River basin and provides support to institutions in North Macedonia, Albania, Montenegro and Kosovo. In Struga, representatives of the Hydrometeorological Services from these countries had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with technological advancements in forecasting flood risk.
