Redwood National Park is located in northern California on the coast of the Pacific Ocean. This biome is a temperate rainforest. Like a tropical rainforest, this area receives a lot of rain throughout the year, especially in the form of fog. However, the main difference is that temperate rainforests have a cooler climate. Because of this location and climate, there is a vast variety of plant and animal species. Redwood Trees live, on average, 500-1,000 years old, but some are estimated to be over 2,000 years old! The tallest is nicknamed the Hyperion, which stretches a whopping 380 feet (116 meters) into the sky! However, on average, they grow to about 300-350 feet (91-107m).
