Brief outline of the ABS crime program with a focus on the administrative data collections. Specifically focusing on linking these administrative data to provide new insights into how people interact and flow through the criminal justice system - the Criminal Justice Data Asset. The presentation will touch on data governance, access and future opportunities for such an asset. Speaker: Will Milne is the Director of the National Centre for Crime and Justice Statistics at the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). With 25 years of experience with the ABS, Will has extensive experience in crime and justice statistics, econometrics and economic statistics. During his 11 years as director of the ABS crime statistics program, he and his team have been working closely with crime and justice agencies (police, criminal courts, corrective services and legal assistance) across Australia to enhance the suite of high quality, nationally consistent crime statistics (including family, sexual and domestic violence statistics). He is also responsible for the Personal Safety Survey (equivalent to violence against women surveys) which publishes prevalence measures for family domestic and sexual violence in support of Australia's National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children.
