Chaired by Sir Robert Buckland QC MP, the Levelling Up Commission held its first inquiry session on the role of system change and devolution in the Levelling Up agenda. The panel of experts discussed the merits of doing so, and how 'London-style powers' can benefit other local authorities in service delivery . Too often the Levelling Up agenda is something being done ‘to and for’ local and regional government, the Commission intends to make sure it is done ‘with and by’ them. Through roundtable meetings with MPs and senior leaders of local and regional government from across the UK, the Commission intends to set out a series of recommendations to deliver the 12 national ‘Missions’ through system change, boosting pay and productivity, spreading opportunities, improving public services and restoring local pride. #politics #policy #government #levellingup #conservative
