If you'd like to learn how I paint and distress my hard cover journals, tune in and let's paint together! Hi Guys! I'm so happy you joined me today as we start working on our Pastel Blossoms junk journal which is going to include my digital kits. Thank you to all of you who purchased the kits from my Etsy shop - your support means the world to me and I am beyond excited so many of you liked them. If you would like to take a look at the kits, please visit my Etsy shop: https://www.etsy.com/shop/TealAndTatt... Today we will be working on the cover for our journal. As I mentioned in the intro video ( • Pastel Blossoms | DIGITAL KIT Share and In... ) we will make a hard cover, hand painted journal, and I am showing you my exact process step by step - along with the decision-making, some mistakes, and changing my mind a few times. I love painting the covers and playing with mixed media, but I am not an experienced mixed media artist so my process is a lot of experimenting and trying new things and going with the flow. I start with a vague idea of what I want to do and then I let the process of creating take me with it. That's why each cover is different and that's why I believe there is no way to get bored or tired of painting the covers. I hope you will find this video cohesive and easy to follow. Because of the nature of the process (long drying times in between the layers of media) I needed to take long breaks between video shots, which is different to my usual process. I do, however, hope that you will enjoy it, whether you are a beginner in journal making, or a seasoned junk journaler :) As mentioned in the intro, I constructed the cover off camera, following the exact steps from my recent tutorial, with one difference - I covered the book board with plain white cotton fabric instead of printed material. Here's the tutorial for you: • How to Make an EPHEMERA HOLDER and a FABRI... I then covered the whole thing with a coat of white acrylic gesso and the rest of the process you will see in this very video :) Let me know please if you liked it and found it useful! I always appreciate your feedback so much. Thank you for watching and in case you have any questions, please always feel free to ask me in the comments. I do my best to get back to all of you, even if it does take me a bit more time sometimes :) Hugs and smiles, Martyna ________ MEASUREMENTS: THE COVER: Wide: 15cm / 5 3/4 inches Tall: 21cm / 8 1/4 inches Spine: 6cm / 2,5 inches Raised part with the WINDOW: Wide: 14cm / 5 1/2 inches Tall: 20cm / 7 3/4 inches ________ If you are looking for some more ideas on how to actually use a junk journal, check out my 'Junk Journal with Me' series! • JOURNAL WITH ME - How I Use My Creative Jo...
