Bit long winded, but for those who don't care how it works, I will provide a link (before the next upload) to a zip file containing C++ compliant source code (that should compile with any CPP compiler and run under any version of Windows™) for reading and writing files synchronously in your code, but internally using marshalled calls that invoke the operating system's facility for asynchronous and highly efficient overlapped IO. Due to the critical nature of the dangers of synchronous IO, and the fact that I've learned how to create a very simple interface to overlapped IO (easier than fread even!) I decided to devote two tutorials to explanation and writing of the "file reading" function that I have, and the "file writing" function that I have yet to have. The code will compile with any compliant C++ compiler and run under any version of Windows *without any alteration*. It will be thread safe, so you will not need to learn anything about synchronization in order to use it. A
