In the Oval Office with Carney, Trump said that Canada and the U.S. are competitors who have a "natural conflict," and "mutual love." "We don't like to compete because we sort of hurt each other when we compete. And so we have a natural conflict. It's a natural business conflict; nothing wrong with it. And I think we've come a long way over the last few months, actually, in terms of that relationship," Trump said. Trump added he will discuss lowering tariffs on key Canadian sector as part of efforts to ease trade tensions between Washington and Ottawa. "There are areas where we compete and it's in those areas where we have to come to an agreement that works. But there are more areas where we are stronger together, and that's what we're focused on.
