The Church of St. Mary Magdalene stands on top of the 300-meter Mola hill, 3 kilometers from the town of Novelda and 60 km from Torrevieja. The architectural masterpiece was built in the Catalan Art Nouveau style, or more precisely, in the style of the early Antoni Gaudi. The temple was erected in the middle of the 20th century according to the design of Gaudi's student, engineer Jose Sal Sal. The building indeed resembles the famous Sagrada Familia Cathedral in Barcelona, ​​but, unlike the latter, it has a completed appearance and a unique cup-shaped cross-section. The structure looks like a castle made of wet sand: its natural forms have no sharp lines or heavy elements, and two airy 25-meter towers strive towards the sky contrary to the law of gravity.
