Tiaotan Historical Trail is the road between Tongxiao and Sanyi in the past. During the Japanese reign era, the the charcoal industry in Tongxiao and Sanyi mountainous areas flourished, and the Fuxing area of Tongxiao was near Sanyi. It was far from convenient to transport the charcoal produced to the central downtown of Tongxiao. Therefore, porters were employed to transport charcoal across the mountainous areas to Sanyi Railway Station and ttransported out, so this road is called "Taiotan Histoircal Trail." There are public toilets at the entrance of Tiaotan Historical Trail. 【交通資訊】（Traffic Information） ★大眾運輸：建議搭乘台鐵西部幹線(山線)至三義站, 經三興橋, 步行桐花走廊, 越過石坑崀至挑炭古道三通嶺牌坊步道入口。步行時間約40~50分鐘。請參考以上Google 地圖網址連結。 ★自行開車：Google地圖衛星導航輸入「苗栗縣三義鄉挑炭古道」，即可導航至步道入口（約位於苗48鄉道約6.7K處)。步道入口附近路旁有空地可以停車。 ★Public transportation: It is recommended to take the Western Main Line (Mountain Line) of the Taiwan Railways to Sanyi Station, pass the Sanxing Bridge, walk the Tonghua Corridor, cross the Shikenglang to the entrance of the Tiaotan Historical Trail Santongling Archway. The walking time is about 40-50 minutes. Please refer to the Google Map URL link above. ★Drive by yourself: Enter "Tiaotan Historical Trail, Sanyi Township, Miaoli County" on Google Maps satellite navigation to navigate to the trail entrance (approximately 6.7K on Miao 48 Township Road).
