The Sony PlayStation 3 and the Blu-ray player are a matched set. There is a serial number on the control board of the Blu-ray player. If the Blu-Ray player or control card of the Blur-ray player is replaced, then the system must be re-matched (re-married). In order to do this, the PS3 must be put into "Factory Service Mode". This procedure requires the use of a "Jig". The Texas Instruments TI-84 plus calculator can serve as a jig. Before you can enter "factory service mode", the firmware of the Sony PlayStation must be downgraded to version 3.55. Do not attempt this procedure if your PS3 has not been downgraded to firmware version 3.55. You risk "bricking" your PS3.
