You will need very few basic tools (a screw driver, pry bar, hammer and utility knife) and of course a new operator😄. It is very important to pay close attention to the type of operator when buying the new one, because there are many types available in the market and it is very confusing. Left side, right side, single arm, split arm operator etc. Look at the window from the outside to figure out which side you need. Your left will be window's left and right will be window's right. Mine was left hand split arm operator with 4.5" link arm length and was not available in any of my local big box stores. I had to order it online.
