Meguiar's Paint Protect - 365 Days Worth of Durability - January 2015 This is a water test of the latest synthetic polymer sealant from Meguiar's. I prepped the surface by wash and rinse using Meguiar's Deep Crystal soap, I decontaminated the surface using a Nanoskin Autoscrub sponge, then I applied Meguiar's M205 by hand and from there applied Paint Protect by hand. I allowed the product to "dry" for 5 minutes as recommended on the directions, and this is not a product that will haze during this dry time. The car was not wet for a period of 24 hours to allow it to fully cure as is stated on the directions as well. Meguiar's does not recommend this product for use on glass or windshields. Overall, a very easy product to work with. A little bit of Paint Protect applied to the applicator pad goes a long way. The paint feels incredibly slick and smooth after removal, smoother than their Ultimate Quik Wax. As you can see from the test, this product appears to be a sheeting style sealant, much like Meguiar's NXT 2.0, their Gold Class wax, and their Ultimate lines after extended wetting. I would love to hear feedback from other users who have used this product to see if the results we are getting are comparable. My results may or may not be typical, as prep tactics, paint surfaces, and application environments are not the same for every user. The product was applied in the shade, however the car was not contained under a garage while the product cured. Temperature on application was mid 70s. For a water repellency comparison, I have applied Turtle Wax's ICE Liquid Wax on the other half of the hood in this video. I wanted to again show the difference between a sheeting style sealant against a beading style sealant. Notice I will use the words sealant and wax interchangeably sometimes, any synthetic polymer product is known as a sealant, but is many times referred as a wax as that last step product applied to paint for protection. Sorry for any confusion. Overall I like the product. The ease of use is definitely a plus, and MSRP at $10, you're going to get a lot of uses out of a product that is advertised to be the durable tank in Meguiar's arsenal of products. We have to keep in context the type of market Meguiar's is positioning this product to. Which are people who generally like to put on their paint protection a few times a year and want something easy to use that isn't going to break the bank. To be honest, I was expecting more of a tighter style beading product, but the repellency characteristics of this product does match that of their other products quite well. This product certainly doesn't hurt the look of the car, I think it looks great and can't notice a difference in appearance between this and the ICE Liquid Wax or this against the Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax. The red Sebring guinea pig is gone! It was sold very shortly after completing the NXT 2.0 vs. ICE Liquid Wax video, and now that I'm down south, I still have all of my gear and most products back up in the freezing tundra up north. I've got some more products I would like to test out though, I'll try and put a few more videos up.
