Originally recorded May 5, 2025. Another old Tiny Middle Story of my boss Pat. For those of you not in the know, we got hit pretty hard by Hurricane Sandy here. But Sandy was the big one. The year prior, we had Hurricane Irene, and while there was widespread damage and whatnot, it was nowhere near the degree that Sandy would cause. I think Irene arrived on a Saturday and was gone early Sunday. Tiny Middle, as a precaution, got plywood and boarded up the glass doors on the front of the building. I remember coming in, that Sunday, to work, as I normally would. And oh yeah, there were downed trees and downed wires that I had to dodge the whole way in. I worked with 2 other guys at that time on Sunday, Dan and Aubrey. Both of them called out, that left me there alone for the entire day. Didn't matter to me any. Less distractions. And Dan used to fart all day. The next day, the manager Pablo who was there Sunday bumped into Pat in the shop, and told Pat that the other 2 guys called out and I was the only one who came in. So immediately I "joked" and said "I'll have the Filet Mignon with a baked potato and a side of..." as if to say "buy me lunch, it's the least you could do" But to that, all Pat said was "All you did was your job". Fortunately, Pablo bought me lunch. Still, for Pat to say that, it's still a thorn in my side.
