Leicester locals react to fatal stabbing as De Montfort University confirms student's death

Leicestershire Police confirmed a man in his 20s has died after an incident at De Montfort University at around 5pm on Tuesday evening. A large police cordon remained in place on Wednesday morning, while investigations are ongoing. An 18-year-old has been arrested. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening near The Innovation Centre. The cordon, centred on the junction of Bonners Lane and Oxford Street, stretches from Leicester Royal Infirmary to The Magazine. Multiple roads remain closed to both vehicles and pedestrians. Detective Inspector Lorna Granville, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “We are currently piecing together exactly what has occurred on the corner of Oxford Street and Bonners Lane between, what is reported, as two men involved in a confrontation.
