Stealth (c) Broderbund Software 1984 for the Atari 8 bit line of computers It took me only 40 years to beat this game!!! After a plethora of failed attempts, I finally managed to develop and practice a strategy, that enabled me to not only pass level 3, but actually finish this game by passing level 5. I figured that those damned missiles were the hardest ones to avoid, all while having to watch the fuel level. Frankly, none of the other enemies matter too much, at least in the last three stages. As to avoiding the missiles.. Generally, I'd say veering off to the direction opposite to where they came from worked the best, but as you can see, it also worked the other way around. Also, speeding up and slowing down may have had something to do with it. BTW a few times, I was reacting to the missiles (in time) as described above, and despite the visuals (suggesting a hit) it actually prevented a collision (aka player's ship destruction). I'm not sure why - maybe a design decision - but I'm happy it worked that way. So encouraged by this success, I think I will now have a look at its excellent, yet unpublished predecessor, "Landscape". I'm just curious if the slightly different gameplay there will allow me to progress further than the last time. LbnL I edited the tunes slightly, giving them a bit of echo, emulating ambient stereo sound. Using the Atari800Win PLus emulator (http://www.a800win.atari-area.prv.pl) with standard Atari 800XL settings (XL/XE / 64kB RAM / PAL version).
