Frl. Menke – “Traumboy” (LP vers) (Germany Polydor) 1982

Written by Harald Gutowski and Frl Menke. Produced by Harald Gutowski. German singer, Franziska Menke, was a key contributor to the German new wave (NDW – Neue Deutsche Welle) scene of the early 80s. Her second single, “Hohe Berge” was one of the big hits of the genre, reaching #10 in Germany in 1982. A 3:52 version of “Traumboy” was released as the follow-up, reaching #39. The album version clocks in at 5:43 and this version was also released as a 12” single. Both sides were on Frl. Menke’s debut album, simply titled, Frl. Menke”. A very solid album but, alas, no chart action. Harry Gutowski was the founder of the German rock band Duesenberg (1976), with whom he made three albums. He was subsequently the bassist in Joachim Witt’s band before branching out as a producer. A varied career in the German music business has followed his success with Frl. Menke’s recordings.
