Artivism by XR and EYWA🐝 The realities are glitching. From what I read about future scenarios, from what I see already happening in other parts of the world, from what I see happening already here in Sweden not least from testimonies and first hand experiences by the indigenous sami people, it becomes clear that things are not as they should. Our climate is changing. Species are going/risks going extinct much faster than the ordinary background extinction rate. I read that the consequenses of the environmental crises will probably equal the worst crimes against humanity in history. I read that we’re in the beginning of a potential sixth mass extinction, the latest happening 65 million years ago. I read that the global carbon budget will be finished in about 6 years time. The swedish politicians keep missing target after target on biodiversity and climate because they make other priorities. Even though we who live here in Sweden are amongst the most resource/carbon intense people in the world per capita and therefor have an even bigger responsibility. However, things seem normal looking at the surface even though the deep fundaments for our existence are not solid anymore and will only become more and more destabilized. I’ve been shaken to my core in my own little world. I wish for the rest of society to be shaken to it’s core too about these facts so we collectivly can act on them. Ordinary people who did peaceful civil disobediance made such an impression on me and I’ve never been the same since because for the first time I didn’t just read about the crises I felt it in the air too. I saw a human response that made sense and that indicated emergency. It also gave me real hope, since in a democracy the people are the leaders, and if we would demand emergency actions we could get it. The question is how many will use their voice, rights and privilege when there is still time. The future will be what we make it. It’s hard to realize being in the middle of it, but you’re living in what will become a historically defining moment in time.
