Inyo County Sheriff Candidate Forum 2022 hosted by Independence Civic Club This forum was held Thursday, September 29, 2022, at 6:30 pm at the American Legion Hall in Independence, California. Candidates include Mr. Eric Pritchard and Ms. Stephanie Rennie. The Independence Civic Club provided three questions two weeks prior to the event. The candidates gave opening statements and then took turns giving their prepared responses to these questions during the first half of the forum. Responses were limited to five minutes each. During intermission, the audience was invited to submit written questions. The moderator read the submitted questions to the candidates during the second half of the forum. Responses were limited to two minutes each. 0:00 - Moderator announces format for the evening, and candidates give opening statements. 10:50 - Moderator reads first question provided in advance by the Independence Civic Club: "What will you do as sheriff to prepare deputies to interact with the mentally ill population?" 18:28 - Moderator reads second question: "With five sovereign tribes in Inyo County, how will you respect sovereignty and still assist with law enforcement? What will you do to strengthen the relationship between the tribes and the sheriff's office? What opportunities can you identify to collaborate with the tribes?" 24:35 - Moderator reads third question: "AB 109 provides funding for prisoner-oriented development programs, and the Community Corrections Partnership (CCP) plan created by Inyo County provides guidelines for creating these programs. How will you implement meaningful programs in the jail? What programs do you see as a priority?" 37:10 - Intermission announced and audience invited to submit written questions. 56:54 - Forum reconvenes, and moderator reads the submitted questions to the candidates.
