Iran Abu Mahdi - Futuristic Corvette Reshape IRGC Naval Doctrine

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) received an advanced missile corvette, named "Abu Mahdi". According to Iranian media, the handover ceremony took place in the southern Iranian port city of Bandar Abbas on January 6 with the attendance of senior officials, including IRGC Commander Hossein Salami and Navy Commander Alireza Tangsiri. Abu Mahdi belongs to the Shahid Soleimani class of corvettes with a Catamaran design and stealth capabilities, making it challenging for enemy radar and reconnaissance systems to detect its presence in the waters. According to Rear Admiral Alireza Tangsiri, the Navy Commander of the IRGC, the Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis corvette can stay at sea for 14 days, with an operational radius of up to 2,000 nautical miles.
