How NOT to play against an Isolated Queen’s Pawn (IQP)

Isolated pawns are bad, right? Well, it depends! A common middle game structure is called the “Isolated Queen’s Pawn” or IQP. This sort of structure arises out of several different openings, giving one side an isolated d-pawn early in the game. Despite the isolated pawn being a weakness, there are also some advantages to playing with this sort of structure. And if the side playing AGAINST the isolated pawn doesn’t know how to do it correctly, they can pretty easily lose the game! In today’s video, I will demonstrate how NOT to play against an IQP in a recent game that I played! And I will give some tips that I learned on how to play against this structure correctly instead.
