In this video we travelled on the Amtrak Coast Starlight train from Seattle to Los Angeles. The journey took around 36 hours. Described as "a grand west coast train adventure between Los Angeles and Seattle, the Coast Starlight train passes through Santa Barbara, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and Portland. Widely regarded as one of the most spectacular of all train routes, the Coast Starlight links the greatest cities on the West Coast. The dramatic snow-covered peaks of the Cascade Range and Mount Shasta, lush forests, fertile valleys and long stretches of Pacific Ocean shoreline provide a stunning backdrop for your journey." In reality the trip was ok, but probably not as good as the enthusiastic description above. God bless you America. We travelled 1377 miles at a speed of between 40 and 70 miles per hour. The food was pretty good considering it was prepared on a train. The room was dated and small, but adequate for a backpacker adventure. This certainly wasn't the orient express, but it was a fun feat of endurance.
