It's such a hassle not being able to see if you can safely switch lanes or not. Side view mirrors get more sophisticated with new safety features every year, but the install process has not changed for decades. This Avalon mirror is held on by three small bolts/nuts and the electrical wire harness. Side view mirrors are designed to break off clean so no extra damage occurs on your door. The only tool you'll need is a socket wrench with a corresponding socket for the nuts. You want to start by snapping off the black triangular cover on the inside of the door. You'll notice that the electrical plug and bolts are behind the cover, indicating that you do NOT have to remove the door panel. Once you pry off the small cover, remove the bolt/nuts first. Leave the electrical wire connected just in case gravity wants to take your mirror down. Once you have the mirror secured, unplug the wires and remove the mirror. Hopefully, you've selected the correct color mirror with corresponding features. All the Toyota Avalon mirrors are available aftermarket EXCEPT the mirror with the turn signal. If your mirror has the turn signal feature like the one we installed; it's a dealership item only. Before we install the mirror, be sure to place the rubber weather stripping onto your new mirror. The majority of our mirrors come with some sort of rubber or plastic cover that acts as insulation. If your order did not have one, notify us or you can always reuse the old one on the current mirror. Once that is settled, you can install the mirror. Just work your way backward and clip the wires back on and bolt the mirror to the car door. The last order of business is to make sure the mirror's electrical components work. Turn the engine on and make sure you can electronically adjust the side view mirrors from the inside. As you can see in the video, we moved the glass mirror around for adjustment and check the turn signal. That's it, your all done and ready to go!
