The content in this video describes a solar energy diverter which I built for our home in Melbourne. The diverter was built using information available in the public domain - specifically OpenEnergyMonitor.org. The purpose of this posting is to share what I have done and provide an overview of the system and its operation. The diverter is used to direct excess solar power to two Electric Vehicles and a resistive element Hot Water Service. My diverter works in a 3 phase environment, however conversion to a single phase application is very easy. This is not a step by step DIY guide per se; you’ll need to do your homework before taking on such a project. Make sure you spend some time looking over the 'Learn' section of the OpenEnergyMonitor.org website. As always, seek the involvement of registered electricians if you’re not familiar with, or not certified to work on, projects that involve mains voltages. I'd like to express my sincere gratitude to those who contributed to the OpenEnergyMonitor.org website and hope my project will inspire others.
