Hey everyone, and welcome back to the bench! It’s so good to have you here again, especially if you’ve been following me on this creative journey of rediscovering Lonely Soldier Designs. In today’s workshop/tutorial, we’re taking the first big step into making your very own wire-wrapped pendant! You've practiced your weaving and wrapping techniques, you've learned how to make coils on a drill, and now you're asking: "What's next?" The answer is: it's time to make your first pendant. In this video — Part 1 of 4 in my Beginner’s Wire-Wrapped Pendant Workshop Series — we’re going to learn how to capture a cabochon using just three base wires and a minimal wrapping wire. It’s simple, clean, elegant, and foundational to everything that comes next in your wire-wrapping journey. ⏱️ Timestamps: 00:00 – Intro & welcome 00:48 – What we’re making today 01:33 – Tools & wire I’m using 02:22 – Preparing your base wires 05:15 – Wrapping the core 09:42 – Adding in your stone 14:30 – Wrapping tips as you go 19:00 – Building the shape 23:10 – Wrapping continues 27:45 – Finish and what’s next To show your support and help me keep making these videos please come on over and join my Patreon. Stones: A small to medium cabochon (recommended size: ~30mm x 20mm) Choose something shallow and rounded, not too deep or faceted. This makes capturing it with just three wires much easier. Tips for beginners: Don’t worry if it’s not perfect — that’s how we all start. Just sit down, relax, and follow along. I talk through it all as I go, and you’ll pick it up bit by bit. Whether you're on your sofa or at your bench, this is your first step toward creating your own wire wrapped pendants.
