In Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu the most dominant place to be is on the Back. Most of us understand the concept of "Back Takes" when it comes to taking someone's back in BJJ from the ground, whether that's initiating it from Mount, Side Control, or a plethora of other positions that can lead you to that spot. However, most people don't understand that a great way to take the back is with takedowns too! Most takedowns people thing of in Jiu-Jitsu are leg tackles, i.e., Single Legs, Double Legs, Hi-Crotch, etc. These are all amazing takedown options, but they are not the end all-be-all of takedowns. The Slide By is a great option for scoring more points and taking more backs in BJJ. I would suggest everyone has this takedown in the arsenal. It's pretty risk free, low energy, and doesn't take much time to get good at once you've put some reps in.
