A peaceful walk around the Ara Pacis Augustae and the newly restored Piazza Augusto Imperatore, filmed with no commentary — only the authentic atmosphere, sounds, and light of Rome’s historic centre. Your visit begins at the Ara Pacis Augustae, the monumental altar dedicated to the Pax Romana by Emperor Augustus in 9 BC. Considered one of the finest masterpieces of Augustan art, it celebrates peace, prosperity, and the founding myths of Rome through beautifully carved marble reliefs. The altar is preserved inside a luminous modern structure designed by Richard Meier, blending antiquity with contemporary architecture. From here, the walk continues into the restored Piazza Augusto Imperatore, where the newly reopened space reveals a striking dialogue between: • the Mausoleum of Augustus, the emperor’s gigantic circular tomb (currently not visitable, with reopening scheduled for 2026), • Fascist-era monumental buildings from the 1930s, • a beautiful small fountain created in 1774 • and fragments of ancient Rome integrated into the urban landscape. The contrast makes this square one of the most fascinating urban spaces in Rome — a layered encounter between imperial ambition, modern monumentalism, and archaeological memory. The route then follows Via dei Pontefici, Via del Corso, and the quiet Vicolo del Grottino, before returning to the Ara Pacis to complete the loop. 🎧 No commentary — just the real sounds, light, and atmosphere of the Eternal City. ________________________________________ Route (in sequence): Ara Pacis, Piazza Augusto Imperatore, Via dei Pontefici, Via del Corso, Vicolo del Grottino, Ara Pacis. ________________________________________ Approx. walking distance: 1.0 km Estimated duration: 40–55 minutes (including a full visit to the Ara Pacis Museum) Google Maps: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8PvfuXJ3N9CS2... ________________________________________ Ara Pacis Museum Information Museum: Museo dell’Ara Pacis What it contains: • The Ara Pacis Augustae (Altar of Augustan Peace) • Multimedia panels about Augustus’ reign • Rotating temporary exhibitions Typical Opening Hours: • Daily: 9:30 – 19:30 (Hours may vary for holidays or special events — check the official website.)
