Transforming the Homestead: Finished Shower, Door Install & Campfire Night!

We’re back at the property for a full, respectable weekend of homestead progress, and this one is packed with real upgrades. The goal: finish the shower, build a working bathroom door, improve the fire pit, and cook an entire meal over the coals. It’s our most productive weekend yet — and the place is finally starting to feel like a true off‑grid getaway. We start by getting the fire pit going early so it can burn down to perfect cooking coals by sunset. Then it’s time to tackle the big project: building and installing a real bathroom door, adding shelves inside the wall for shampoo and toiletries, and setting up the shower system so it works reliably. By the end of the day, we have a functioning shower, toilet, latchable door, and lighting — a huge step forward for comfort on the homestead. As the fire burns down, we prep campfire potatoes, burgers, and coffee, juggling the hot and cool sides of the fire while trying not to burn the forest down. We also deal with forgotten supplies (again), root patrol, and a few lessons learned for next weekend. The trail cam even catches deer wandering right by the fire pit while we cook.
