Star's childhood unfolded north of Seattle in Everett WA, under the care of a grandmother ill-equipped to provide the nurturing she needed. Raised in a family grappling with substance addiction, Star acquired the survival skills needed in such a challenging environment from an early age. Her mother's sporadic presence meant days and weeks without even seeing her at times, while her father's absence was a constant throughout most of her life. When her father finally did come into her life when she was a teen, he sexually abused her. Major trauma has been a constant them in Stars life. Despite recently breaking free from the chaos within her family, she found herself thrust into a new form of turmoil—the harsh reality of living on the streets of Seattle.
