A bit of practice with a fire piston. The concept of a fire piston is quite simple yet very interesting... [SLO] Netilni bat je naprava, ki zaneti netivo samo s pomočjo zraka.... [ENG] Fire piston work by compressing air in the chamber fast enough so it heats up and ignites the tinder inside - usually char cloth or other charred material. The principal is basic physics, yet when you think about it it is very interesting, this device creates a very small explosion which ignites the tinder inside. Timing, speed and force need to be well balanced so you catch the right moment when the tinder ignites. If you leave it in the chamber too long you snuff it out and if you do not put enough fore or you push down too slowly there is not enough heat created to ignite the char cloth at all. At one time I added a bit of lubrication(lard) just to make a better seal around the piston. [SLO] Netilni bat deluje na pincipu osnovne fizike - bolj in hitreje kot zrak stisnemo bolj se bo segrel. Če to naredimo dovolj hitro pa v notranjosti ustvarimo majhno eksplozijo, ki zaneti netivo. Netivo v notranjosti je ponavadi zoglenela krpa ali drug zoglenel material, ki se hitro vname. Pri netilnem batu je potrebna prava mera hitrosti, sile in da ujamemo pravi trenutek, ko moramo izvlečti bat, da ne zadušimo vnetega netiva v notranjosti.
