Discovery Bay Masks | Francesco Lietti

Artist Francesco Lietti recently painted three large fiberglass Venetian masks for the Hong Kong Resort Company Ltd, now installed at key locations in Discovery Bay. Each mask reflects a different aspect of the community. The first illustrates the close link with Central, where many residents commute daily via the 25‑minute ferry while enjoying island life. The second highlights broader connectivity — from the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge to nearby islands and the airport on Lantau, gateway to the world. The third celebrates Discovery Bay’s Italian character, with its new residential building evoking Tuscany’s vineyards and winding roads. Painted with acrylics, outdoor emulsion, and collage, the masks incorporate words and playful hidden details to engage viewers of all ages. A fourth mask was created in collaboration with students from Discovery Bay International School during a lively workshop. Together, the four masks will be displayed at the ferry pier, South Plaza, and DB North Plaza. This project has been an exciting opportunity to work on a large scale, connect with a wider audience, and contribute something meaningful to the Discovery Bay community. Thank you for watching!
