Help us celebrate the 65th Anniversary of the march that led to the Edwards v. SC Supreme Court Case. Hear the stories of the courageous individuals who desired to inspire change and left their mark in history. Join us for an unforgettable event of reflection, remembrance, and reverence as we honor Living Legends who helped shaped the Civil Rights Movement in South Carolina. This powerful panel commemorates the anniversary of the historic Edwards March of 1961 and the ongoing struggle for desegregation, justice, and equality across our state. Our panels features Cecil Williams, DeeDee Wright, Chief Justice Jean Toal, and Representative Leola Robinson and will offer firsthand insight into the courage and perseverance that played a part in a pivotal era in SC history. Moderated by historian and Executive Director of the Center for Civil Rights History and Research at the University of South Carolina, Dr. Bobby Donaldson, the panel will explore personal stories and experiences that shed light on the realities of segregation and the fight for civil rights. In addition to the panel discussion, we will also honor three additional trailblazers, whose lives have made an impact: Millicent Brown, Minerva Brown King and Oveta Glover. Their contributions prove that the movement was also built on resilience and the love of community. All of these leaders stood on the frontline of change and carried the movement forward. Come to take part in a meaningful conversation that honors their lives and preserves their stories. There will also be a special presentation made by Poet Laureate of Columbia, SC. , Jennifer Bartell Boykin.
