Met zonsopkomst is het hoog water en daarom komen tienduizenden steltlopers vlak bij (0:39). We zien (128) de bonte strandloper (1:08), (129) de prachtige zilverplevier (2:40), we zien (130) rosse grutto's, die erg op de grutto lijken (4:32), en nog de wat zeldzamere (131) krombekstrandloper, die hier alleen in de trektijd is te zien (6:27). Ook zien we nog (106) een jagende bruine kiekendief boven het wad (5:44) en (54) een enorme groep kluten (7:30). Today we visit the mudflats near Westhoek on the Frisian Waddensea, north of Harlingen. With sunrise we meet with high tide and we see thousands of waders up close (0:39). We see the dunlin (1:08), the beautiful grey plover (2:40) and bar-tailed godwits on their way to northern Scandinavia (4:32). A member of the godwit family allows us to compare them with the black-tailed godwit that breeds in the Netherlands (4:32). We are lucky to see quite a few of the rare curlew sandpipers coloring to their breeding plumage (6:27), however, they only visit our country during spring and fall migration. We also catch a hunting marsh harrier (5:44) and see an enormous flock of resting avocets (7:30).
