Mortal Kombat - History of Kano's Metallic Eye

Kano has been a Mortal Kombat character from the very beginning, and when gamers saw him the first thing that grabbed their attention was his metal faceplate containing a bionic eye, which allowed him to see in infrared. Of course, the Mortal Kombat lore has expanded greatly since then. In this video, we'll look at how Kano's infrared vision works in the games as well as the movies, MK Legacy webseries, and the upgrades in Mortal Kombat X (that allow for the different colors in Cutthroat/Cybernetic/Commando variations), and whether the MK team was inspired by popular movies such as Terminator 2. We'll look at the surgeon who gave Kano his eye in the first place, as well as the work he did for other characters such as Hsu Hao and Kabal. Some of the information comes from Ed Boon and John Tobias interviews over the years, as well as his (Tobias) original artwork. Finally, we'll briefly explore the real-life possibilities for someone to lose their eye and have it replaced or even "upgraded" with cybernetics.
