(5 Jan 2026) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: NO USE BY BBC PERSIAN, VOA PERSIAN, MANOTO TV, IRAN INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATED PRESS - NO USE BY BBC PERSIAN, VOA PERSIAN, MANOTO TV, IRAN INTERNATIONAL Tehran, Iran - 05 January 2026 1. Wide of briefing 2. Journalists 3. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Esmail Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman: "The diplomatic apparatus is not supposed to get caught off guard by these developments. Over the past one or two years, we have been faced with a flood of changes and unexpected events, and we are fully prepared. We built up this readiness within ourselves so that we can move quickly and flexibly, both to keep track of developments and to engage and consult with other countries in order to secure and safeguard Iran’s national interests, as well as to help push back against currents and trends that threaten regional and international peace and security. We will continue down this path with determination." 4. Mid of Baghaei 5. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Esmail Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman: "A certain power has allowed itself, without any basis and without any justification, to resort to force and abduct the president and the president’s spouse of a country, violating its territory, territorial integrity, and national sovereignty. This is the core issue that must be taken seriously by the international community and condemned. Such behavior can set a pattern and could be repeated elsewhere in the world. The consequences and repercussions of this rest with the party that breaks the law. Naturally, a blatant violation of international law does not give any license, nor does it justify, repeating such an act in another place. As I said, responsibility for this unlawful action and for its impact on the rule of law at the international level lies with the lawbreaking party, as well as with those who, through their silence, indifference, or even worse, through their support, in effect endorse such an illegal act." 6. Journalists 7. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Esmail Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman: "It goes without saying that any evidence or indications pointing to the involvement of foreign parties in Iran’s internal affairs, including through inciting violence or providing support for sabotage, will certainly be properly documented and raised with the relevant countries." 8. Pan left of briefing 9. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Esmail Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman: "Look, putting media debates aside, the Islamic Republic of Iran and our armed forces are keeping a close watch over Iran’s borders and territory. We are not going to rely on or trust the statements of the Zionist regime. The deceitfulness of this regime has been proven to us. What matters to us, and what is definitely our focus, is strengthening our readiness and keeping our eyes wide open to defend Iran’s borders and its very existence." 10. Wide of briefing 11. SOUNDBITE (Farsi) Esmail Baghaei, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman: "Preserving Yemen’s unity and territorial integrity matters to all countries in the region. We are well aware that the enemies of regional stability, security, and interests are seeking to stir up insecurity and break apart Islamic countries. We hope that the developments we have witnessed in recent weeks in Yemen will lead to Yemeni to Yemeni talks and, based on the existing roadmap, will push forward the consolidation of stability and security in Yemen with greater strength." 12.
