President thanks foundation for school support - nbc

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has expressed gratitude to the president of the Help for Namibia Foundation, Wolfgang Fiedler, for his contribution to school development projects in Namibia. Fiedler, a German citizen, has been actively supporting Namibian schools for nearly five decades, assisting with infrastructure development and the provision of learning materials across the country. During a courtesy visit by Fiedler, President Nandi-Ndaitwah recognised and praised the German goodwill ambassador's longstanding contribution to Namibia's education sector, particularly in rural areas. The President has often reiterated the importance of inclusive education in building a better future for all citizens, with Fiedler's efforts strongly aligning with this vision. Over the past 48 years, Fiedler and his wife have supported over 100 schools across the country. Their contributions include the construction and renovation of schools and hostels, as well as the donation of textbooks, uniforms and other learning materials. Fiedler and his wife gave special attention to learners with disabilities, particularly the visually impaired. Fiedler and his wife directly contributed 95% of the approximately N$65 million invested in these initiatives, according to Education Minister Sanet Steenkamp. They've also mobilised additional support and donations for Namibia over the years.
