Before And After: Modernizing a KONE EcoDisc After Only Four Years

KONE EcoDisc Service Elevator: 2015-2019 This might hold the record for shortest lived elevator on YouTube. I know not everyone is going to agree with me here, but I believe this a very good case study to show that KONE EcoDisc elevators are not suitable for heavy duty use. This particular service elevator went into service January 29, 2015 and by October of 2019, it was completely modernized. This elevator (and an identical one, also modernized) are critical to the operation of this facility and endured constant usage from day 1. I rode these elevators again prior to the modernization, and the cabs were beaten up horribly and the vents on the bottom were missing, exposing the shaft during travel. This modernization was absolutely needed, although the new elevator doesn't sound great either.
