Timelapse: Crews work to free 3 locomotives stranded on Oregon trestle

Drone footage shows recovery work after a Portland & Western Railroad freight train derailed Jan. 21 near Toledo, Oregon, on a wooden trestle over Olalla Slough. Six cars derailed — three locomotives, a slug (engine-less traction helper) and two boxcars. No one was injured. After one locomotive leaked diesel, Republic Environmental Services deployed containment buoys. As of Tuesday, the locomotives remained on the trestle, leaning but secured with steel cables, as crews built a temporary work bridge for heavy recovery equipment.
